Following in the tradition of hit series such as NBC's "The Apprentice", PBS's "Frontier House" and Bravo's "Top Chef" this premier season of THE WINE MAKERS joins twelve men and women from all walks of life, as they compete for a chance to create and launch their very own wine label.
Set in California, the six-part series takes viewers inside the most storied beverage on earth. The stakes are high as this diverse group of men and women are plunged head first into one of the most uniquely challenging yet rewarding professions in the world. Our cast will experience every aspect of wine making from viticulture and enology to sales and marketing, but only one will launch their own wine label nationwide.
A "who's who" in the world of food and wine make up our team of experts including, winemakers; educators, columnists and culinary celebrities. This seasoned group of professionals have put together true-to-life challenges our cast must face as they compete for the title of wine maker.
The producers of THE WINE MAKERS auditioned more than 500 candidates across the United States from places like Dallas and Atlanta to New York and San Francisco. Shooting for the series began in October 2006 and will continue through April 2008. THE WINE MAKERS is slated to begin airing on PBS stations nationwide in Fall 2008.
